Ran the Fred Kurz 10 Mile on Saturday, April 10. I complained a bit about my 9:20 starting time (which means I would need 7 minute miles to finish at 10:30), but wouldn't you know it, Rick Recker was spot on. I finished two seconds under a 7 minute mile (1:09:58). I still don't understand how Terry Hakkola got a 9:10 starting time, almost a 10 minute head start, especially in light of the fact he was only 2 minutes back at the Human Race 8k.
I did manage to catch Heidi Miler, in the last mile, it took me almost the whole 10 miles to make up the 1 mile different. Only one guy passed me during the whole race, so all in all, I was quite happy.
The weather was perfect for running.
Sunday I ran 7 miles with Emi and Willie Tibbits. We ran a few miles close to 7, but most were in the 7:30-7:45 range.
A wonderful weekend for running. Next Saturday is the Earth Day half-marathon. I haven't finished under 1:40 for a half-marathon this year, I think I can run a 1:35 if I can keep my miles under 7:15. I did it for 10 miles, I should be able to hold it together for another 5k. Of course, "should" doesn't always mean "can".
