Steady week.

7 miles (run home) after work.

48 miles in 4 days. Will run an easy 4 miles today at lunch
to keep the legs loose.

Ran 6.75 miles with Emi, Bob and Sharon. Humid, we kept the pace manageable. Ran around Calhoun & Harriet.

Saturday - Aug. 21, 2010

15.15 miles, according to the Garmin.

Cloudy, but very humid. I was dripping by the end of mile 2. Made the mistake of jumping in with a few of my friends, they were were running 7:30 miles, my goal was to average 9 min. miles. Luckily I only ran with them 2-1/2 miles. The rest of the run was a slow slog...just how I like it.

Friday - Aug. 20, 2010

Ran an easy 4.25 miles today. Got caught in a middle of a downpour, but truthfully it felt good. Friday is here~

Thursday - August 19, 2010

Ran 5 miles at lunch, quite humid. Thankfully the temp wasn't too high.

Ran 5.5 miles from work to home after work. Total for the 10 = 10.5 miles

Noon: I ran 5 miles at lunch, a bit humid outside, but not oppressive
5:00 p.m. - Ran 5 miles home from work; felt slow, but that's the price you pay for two-a-days

Total for the day = 10 miles
Total for the week = 31 miles
Total for the month = 131 miles
Total for the year = 1645 miles

Tuesday-April 20, 2010

Busy busy.

I ran the Earth Day Half-Marathon in St. Cloud this past Saturday. Finished in 1:33:14, which is 7 minutes faster than my 1:40:32 at Dallas in March.

I started out with the 1:35 pacing group, but at mile 5 I was feeling good, so move out and kicked it a little. Felt good until 11, then tightened up a bit, but still finished in pretty good shape. I was happy with my 4th place age group.

Sunday I ran 7, not too hard. I paid the price on Monday, only ran an easy 5 miles.
Today I felt much better, ran 4 at lunch, and will finish up with a 5 mile after work.

This weekend is the Country Music Marathon in Nashville, TN. Wish me luck.

Monday, April 12 - 2010

Ran the Fred Kurz 10 Mile on Saturday, April 10. I complained a bit about my 9:20 starting time (which means I would need 7 minute miles to finish at 10:30), but wouldn't you know it, Rick Recker was spot on. I finished two seconds under a 7 minute mile (1:09:58). I still don't understand how Terry Hakkola got a 9:10 starting time, almost a 10 minute head start, especially in light of the fact he was only 2 minutes back at the Human Race 8k.

I did manage to catch Heidi Miler, in the last mile, it took me almost the whole 10 miles to make up the 1 mile different. Only one guy passed me during the whole race, so all in all, I was quite happy.

The weather was perfect for running.

Sunday I ran 7 miles with Emi and Willie Tibbits. We ran a few miles close to 7, but most were in the 7:30-7:45 range.

A wonderful weekend for running. Next Saturday is the Earth Day half-marathon. I haven't finished under 1:40 for a half-marathon this year, I think I can run a 1:35 if I can keep my miles under 7:15. I did it for 10 miles, I should be able to hold it together for another 5k. Of course, "should" doesn't always mean "can".

Ran an easy 6 miles in 50 minutes on the treadmill.
100 sit-ups
50 push-ups
30 pull-ups

Easy day tomorrow (3 miles) and then the half-marathon on Saturday. It would be nice to run a 1:45 (8 minute miles) but weather conditions will affect that. In addition, running on the treadmill is no experience for hills, so that might slow me as well.

No pressure...it's January. My next half-marathon will be May 10 (new prague) so time will tell if a 8-minute mile marathon is do-able in June.

Wednesday, January 23, 2008

Ran 6 miles on the treadmill, easy for the first mile, and ran the last five at exactly 7.5 mph (8 minute mile). Felt relatively easy. It was a recovery day, so I'm happy with that.

Today, ran 6 miles on the treadmill, with .50 at 8.2, 8.3, 8.4, 8.5, 8.6., 8.7 and 8.8, with a .25 recovery. Tough, but I did it. Got to be late last night, I blame that for part of the problem. My own fault.

Both days, I did 100 sit-ups, 50 pushups and 24 pull-ups.

Another easy 6 tomorrow, 3 on Friday, then the Winter Carnival Half-Marathon on Saturday.

Happy MLK Day.

Ran a good workout on my lunch hour, 6 miles. 1 mile warm-up, then 7 x .50 miles with a .25 recovery, at 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 8.4, 8.5, 8.6 and 8.7. Did my normal 100 sit-ups, 50 push-ups and 30 pulls-ups.

I ran Saturday and Sunday, five miles each day. My goal was six, but with the sub-zero temps and the Winter Carnival Half-Marathon coming up, I thought it was okay to make it an easy weekend.

39 miles last week

Friday, January 18, 2008

Falling behind on my writing. Last night, I ran home from work, it was 5 degrees outside. Not super cold (like this weekend) but cold enough to run with the ski mask. Ran 5 miles. My goal is to run six miles every day, but it was cold enough that one more mile seemed unappealing.

I'm still at 107 miles for 2008, so I'm averaging over 6 miles per day. I'm sure there will be days this Summer when I run much more than 6, so I'm not sweating it, but I don't want it to be a habit.

Today, I'm running at treadmill workout. Since I don't have access to one on the weekends, I will have to bundle up and grin and bear it.

Thursday, January 17, 2008

Didn't post last night, was working on my tax returns. Ran on my lunch hour, 6 miles on the treadmill. Ran .33 miles hard, followed by .33 at a 8:30 minute mile pace recovery. Did that starting at 1 mile; each 1/3 mile was at: 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 8.4, 8.5, 8.6, 8.8 and 9.0

January 15, 2008

On my lunch hour, lifted weights and did my core training.

Ran home 6 miles, 21 degrees outside, but felt colder. These are the dark days. Hopefully Spring is not too far way.

Monday, January 14, 2008

Got up at 6:45, drove to the club, ran 3 miles on the treadmill, did my 50 push-ups, 100 situps and 24 pulls-ups.

After work, I drove over to the U of M Fieldhouse, and ran in the Meet of the Miles. 8 laps on their 200 meter track. I jumped into the 6:00 - 6:20 heat, hoping for a sub-6:16 pace (94 seconds a quarter).

Did not get off to a great start...was in last place after the first lap. Wasn't sure about the pacing. It felt fast...but I felt better as the race went on. By lap 4, I was in first and running hard. I'm not exactly sure of my splits, but I now at lap 7 I was at 5:20...so I had to run a 40 second 200 meters to break 6:00. I hit the finish line just as the clock was turning. I think they clocked me at 6.00.5, which they will round up to 6:01. I know I hit 6 on the nose.

With the mileage this morning, but a mile warm-up, and another mile keeping loose, I had a 6 mile day. I'm very happy with my 6 minute mile.

Sunday, January 13, 2008

Ran 6 miles today, around Lake Calhoun the long way.

For the week 45 miles

Mon: 6
Tue: 6
Wed: 6
Thu: 6
Fri: 5
Sat: 10
Sun: 6

It was a pretty good week, and most miles I've done in a long time.

Saturday, January 12, 2008

Saturday, January 12, 2008

Ran 10 miles today, Calhoun and Harriet, plus a little side track to add the extra mile. That is 39 for the week, still have Sunday.

Tuesday, January 1, 2008

My first run of 2008 was actually a 5K. The Team Ortho Polar Dash 5k started at 11:00 p.m. at the Downtown Depot in Minneapolis. I believe it -1 at the start. I have several layers of clothing, but I was so dressed up, I almost overheated. Tough running fast with that much clothing on. I was happy with my 24:08, although it 2 minutes slower than the Winter Waddle 5K on Dec. 28th. 40th place overall, 7:33 per mile.

I ran another 3 miles later in the afternoon (around Lake Calhoun) so I could start the year with a nice round 6 in the run box.

Friday, January 11, 2008

Because of my work luncheon today, got up at 6:45 and ran to work. Some icy spots in places, but with the morning light, they were easy to spot. Counting it as 5 miles. Did my 100 sit-ups, 50 push-ups and 16 pull-ups.

My plan for the weekend is to run at least 8 tomorrow, and easy 5 or 6 on Sunday. Monday is the Meet of the Miles at the U of M.
